Week 2 NFL preseason bets to make
A collection of NFL bets, plus public betting info from BetMGM
For those bettors chasing steam last weekend, it was a rough go of it. According to my former colleague (and all-around good guy) Adam Burke over at VSiN, NFL sides that had a line move of 1.5 points or more in their favor went just 1-9 against the spread last weekend. That trend continued last night, as the New England Patriots opened +2.5, closed -3 and lost 14-13. With the Patriots-Eagles going Under 35.5 last night, Unders are now 13-5 this preseason.
Betting the NFL preseason is a fickle beast, so approach with extreme caution. One injury to a player could change a head coach’s entire philosophy during a game — something that wouldn’t happen during the regular season. Or a team could make certain decisions about field goals (testing a new kicker’s range from 57 yards) or fourth-down decisions that they wouldn’t make in the regular season. Remember, most teams don’t actually care about winning in the preseason. The main goals are to get through it with your stars healthy, get some valuable reps for rookies and depth players and not put any real game plans on film that you could save for the regular season.
I’m off to Fanatics Fest in New York City for the day, so be sure to say hi if you’re there!
And as always, good luck with your wagers.
