It seems like we get to Thursday night and the start of the NFL week quicker and quicker every week, but it is indeed here, as the New York Jets (-6) host the New England Patriots in Aaron Rodgers’ 2024 home debut.

If you had to do a double take that the Jets are favorites against the Patriots, you’re not alone. This is the first time in the last 25 games between the two teams that the Jets are favored against New England, which was the longest head-to-head streak in the NFL of one team being favored against another.

At DraftKings Sportsbook right now, the betting on the spread is fairly split (53% on Patriots +6), but the money has started to show up on the Jets (61% of handle at DK on Jets -6). As one oddsmaker told me, “At -6, it’s been pretty even betting right now, good two-way action. No real decision on the side, but a small decision on the total. We’re rooting for the under.”

One other thing to note is that it’s very rare in the NFL for the majority of bettors to be backing an under, but that’s what I’ve heard from multiple sportsbook directors. It’s not an overwhelming number, but something to consider.
