10 Week 1 NFL preseason bets to make
A collection of NFL bets, plus public betting info from BetMGM
Ah, the NFL preseason is finally here. Where else can you sweat out a bet with a fourth-string quarterback trying to dodge oncoming pass-rushers in the rain behind a makeshift offensive line?
In all seriousness, preseason does provide a lot of opportunities for sharp bettors, who are scouring the internet for information relating to how long starters will be playing and the level of motivation for head coaches. You’ll see much bigger line moves on both the spread and total than are typical in the regular season, but remember that there is also a lot more variance. Coaches will go for it on fourth down in weird situations and may go for two at the end of the game to avoid overtime. The game plans will likely be very vanilla, as it isn’t worth wasting a potential trick play in a preseason contest. It’s a very different game than regular-season football.
And if you aren’t doing that research? Maybe just enjoy the last few weeks of summer before college football and the NFL season begin. There will be plenty of games to bet on in the coming months.
I’ve compiled the BetMGM public betting information for today’s games and 10 bets from smart NFL handicappers. I tried to include only wagers where the odds haven’t moved too much (e.g. Browns -2.5 doesn’t help you much when the line is Browns -5.5).
Good luck today!
